Log to Rec709 conversion: choosing the right setup

The most common mistake in log to Rec709 conversion is applying a generic LUT built for a different camera or exposure. A transform made for S-Log3 will look wrong on C-Log2 footage, and a misjudged exposure at the shoot shifts everything further. Tell us the camera model, the Log curve, the color gamut it was recorded in and whether you exposed to the right or normally, so the correct transform is chosen.

Count profiles before you pick a tier, since each camera and Log curve in your project needs its own handling. Mixed shoots with two bodies fit a middle package, while multi-camera events fit the larger one. Good log to Rec709 conversion gives you an even starting point rather than a finished look, so if you want a stylised grade afterwards, plan that as a separate creative step in your editor.
